Diane Bramble

I’ve taught at Friends School since 1989. I love teaching here because it’s a place where children are respected. I believe, as Plutarch did, that the mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled. In my classroom I aspire to not only get students thinking and to challenge themselves, but also to impart to them the knowledge and expertise I possess. I have had the opportunity to study with master teachers who inspired me to constantly examine my teaching practice. These mentors gave me many gifts, but the most important one was to respect and value children and young adults in their learning process. Friends believes in children, families, teachers, and community – that’s why I love to teach here.
