Having received my training and certification through the Friends School Teacher Preparation Program, I am thrilled to be returning to Friends School—a school and community that I know and love. With a Masters Degree of Education and Human Development from the University of Colorado Denver, I hold professional licenses to teach K-12 Visual Arts, and K-6 Elementary Education. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. As a lifelong artist, I bring a passion for art in all its many, beautiful forms. I have taught art in and out of the classroom over the course of the last decade.
Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing a student’s inner-artist light up when given the right tools, instruction, and encouragement to unearth their creative gifts. Prior to my teaching career, I worked in arts administration and programming for various nonprofit organizations for 15 years. In my spare time, I enjoy making and exhibiting art, spending time with my family, reading a great novel, and travel. To view my artwork, please visit annaura.com.
