I’m a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) with over 24 years of teaching experience. I hold a BS in Elementary Education from Baylor University, an MA in Teaching from Dallas Baptist University, an Elementary Level 1 Montessori Certification, and a K-8 teaching certification.
Most of my teaching career was spent at The Shelton School in Dallas, the largest independent school worldwide for students with learning differences. During my 22 years there, I taught math, science, English, history, and language therapy to third through fifth-grade students with various learning differences, which allowed me to gain extensive knowledge in the field.
One of my greatest joys comes from teaching children to read. It can be painful to see children lose their desire to learn due to struggles with reading, and my aspiration is to bring the joy I have for teaching reading into each session. I focus on creating small, achievable goals to help build their confidence and, hopefully, reignite their enjoyment of learning.
Outside of teaching, I cherish time with my husband, our two boys, and our three dogs. As we are relatively new to Colorado, we enjoy exploring the many opportunities this beautiful state offers through hiking, biking, floating, and any other outdoor activities.
