My journey as an educator started in environmental and experiential education, which allowed me to explore teaching and learning beyond the classroom setting. During the 2018-2019 school year I took part in Friends’ Teacher Preparation Program, completing my teacher candidacy at a Title One school in BVSD. After graduating from the TPP, I moved to California for several years where I worked at a Gifted and Talented school that focuses on project based learning and weaving social emotional learning into every part of the school day and beyond. Building a strong classroom community is my top priority each school year. To me this is where each individual feels supported, valued and loved everyday not just by myself, but by their whole classroom community.
In 2015 I earned a Bachelors in Social Work from Northern Michigan University, and apply skills from this coursework daily in my classroom. While in the TPP I earned my Masters in Learning, Development and Family Science with an emphasis in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education. I am committed to being a lifelong learner and each day I look forward to what my students will also teach me.
When I’m not teaching I love to hike, trail run, rock climb, read, weave and spend time with my partner, Will and our two tuxedo cats, Onyx and Aggie! I am originally from West Michigan, having moved to Colorado in 2015 and later California in 2020. I am very excited to be back in the Front Range and am always looking forward to new and exciting adventures!
