Current Job Openings

Position Overview:  We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Interventionist to provide individualized literacy and/or math intervention to middle school students. This part-time role is an hourly position and requires a commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week (depending on interest), primarily Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Student Support: Conduct 2 to 3 one-on-one language and or math intervention sessions each morning, utilizing evidence-based programs such as Orton Gillingham, Take Flight, Multi-sensory math or other recognized intervention programs.​
  • Teacher Collaboration: Consult with teachers and the Learning Specialist, providing insights and strategies to support students’ language development within other content areas.​ 
  • Progress Monitoring: Assess and document students’ progress regularly, adjusting intervention strategies to meet individual learning needs. Work with the Learning Specialist to set goals and review student accommodations on Student Learning Plans.  
  • Resource Development: Work with the Learning Specialist to create and adapt instructional materials tailored to each student’s intervention plan and join meetings with parents when appropriate.

 

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field.​
  • Specialized Training: Certification or documented training in Orton Gillingham, Take Flight, Multi-sensory math or other recognized intervention programs.​
  • Experience: Proven experience implementing language-based  interventions with middle school aged children. Additional experience in math intervention is highly desirable.​
  • Collaboration Skills: Strong ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to support student learning.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple student cases, maintain detailed records, and effectively schedule intervention sessions.​

Compensation: Pay range is $55-75 per hour and pay is commensurate with degree, certifications, and experience.

Friends seeks AfterCare Teachers for our AfterCare program that provides after school care for students, ages 2.5-12. It begins after the regular school day and ends promptly at 5:30 PM. Time in AfterCare is structured with an after school snack, playtime either outdoors or in the Great Room, and a choice time. The AfterCare Teacher supervises students in the AfterCare program and performs the following duties: 

  • AfterCare hours: Monday-Friday 3:00-5:30 pm.
  • Report for duty hours: Monday-Friday 2:45pm
  • Prepare attendance sheets for classroom teachers
  • Take attendance every 1/2 hour
  • Plan and implement appropriate games and activities
  • Keep attendance sheets accurate and current
  • Prepare and supervise snack according to snack procedures
  • Record billing in database
  • Keep Director notified of problems and concerns occurring 
during AC
  • Clean up and lock all AC areas at the end of each day 
according to written closing procedures
  • Attend annual health training classes.
  • AfterCare teachers must have current training in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Universal Precautions.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a background check and meet the physical requirements of the position.

Compensation: Starting at $16/hr based on experience

Friends School is looking for fun, energetic, and responsible people who would like to be on our substitute teacher list. We are in need of half-day and full-day substitutes from Preschool through 8th grade. Elementary and middle school subs must have teaching experience and/or a teaching degree. Preschool, Kindergarten and PE subs may be working alongside another teacher and while they are not required to have teaching experience and/or a teaching degree, experience with children is required. A flexible schedule is required with the ability to provide coverage for both planned and short-notice absences of our lead teachers from preschool through grade 8.

Salary Range: Our sub pay is $87.50 for a half day, $175 for a full day.
